Sohyun Kim, BCBA PhD
Founder, Clinical Director
Dr. Sohyun Kim received her PhD in Special Education from UCLA. She is a Korean-American Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a credentialed teacher, and has extensive experiences working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. She was a high school teacher for many years, then started working in the field of ABA in 2013. As a bilingual and bicultural educator and clinician, she has worked with many Korean families to provide culturally-sensitive support. She has also been teaching at Cal State LA and at CSUN since 2020, including undergraduate and graduate-level ABA courses.
Dr. Kim is also an autism researcher, and has published studies in top-tier, peer-reviewed autism journals. She has also presented her research in national and international conferences. Her research focuses on school readiness and executive functioning of autistic students, and culturally-responsive family support.
Services Provided
All children ages 0 to 3 with developmental disabilities are entitled to receive early intervention services per Part C of IDEA at no cost to the families.
We use evidence-based assessment tools to evaluate each child’s unique strengths and areas for growth, and the results are used to develop individualized intervention programs.
We use evidence-based behavioral strategies to teach important skills and to reduce interfering behaviors.
We use family-centered principles to provide culturally-responsive parent training. Our goal is to empower the parents so that they feel confident using positive behavioral strategies as a part of their daily routine.
Parent training can be provided in English or Korean.
We provide parent consultation on various challenges parents can face, especially when their language and culture do not align with the school system.
Consultation can be provided in English or Korean.
If your child is falling behind at reading in school, we can help by thoroughly evaluating their strengths and weaknesses, identify possible underlying roots of the problem, and provide individualized reading intervention.
We can help your child get the most beneficial IEP through document reviews, parent consultations and attending the meeting with the parents.
